Welcome to the Club! This section is designed to take you through the process up until and including taking your first grading.
By now you will have completed your free trial with us and are likely in the process of signing up. Now there are a few jobs to do, but nothing to worry about.
Training fees (sometimes called dues) are paid monthly. Our pricing is available on our website, however we offer two training packages, with age tiers.
Membership is paid monthly, normally by card payment. This is similar to Xbox Live or Netflix, after your first payment your card will be autocharged until you cancel with us, which you can do any time.
If you would like information about Karate for Good Funding, training for free, or having some of your costs covered by the Karate for Good Partnership please speak to Matt or Flick who will guide you through this process.
Our Dojo Management Platform (Johonbu) will email you a link and a pin. You use this to fill in your membership details, such as medical information and emergency contacts.
One of the exciting parts of starting anything new can be getting your new kit. All kit is available through . Once ordered through the shop, kit is brought to class for you within two weeks, though often faster.
The first and most important thing to get are your gloves or mitts (points, kumite, or boxing are all acceptable). We are unable to lend gloves after your free trial.
We would advice that second are gum shields and head guards, though the level of contact that you should be training at in your first few months should not necessitate these, but accidents do happen.
Finally, your training Gi is an important part of fitting into the club and culture.
The total cost for all these items generally does not exceed £50
Within your first couple of months of training, you will need to get licensed with our regulatory bodies. This costs either £15 or £30 and can be done through our website.
You must be licensed before you can grade.
Every 3-4 months we hold gradings, sometimes known as belt testings. There's more information about gradings in this section.
Gradings cost £30 with household/family discounts.
We will let you know if we think you are ready to grade.
